Nearpod is transforming the way of imparting education. It, as a digital platform for education, makes teaching easier for teachers and learning and studying for students. How to Join Nearpod Session 

As a student, you have two options to join a Nearpod session. You can apply any one of the following two ways/methods to join Nearpod session:

Use a code 

Step 1: Open a web browser on your PC and browse Or launch the Nearpod app on your Android or iOS device. 

Step 2: Type the five letter code in the box below the Enter Code option. Your teacher will produce the required code. 

Step 3: Touch the Join tab after entering the 5-character code. 

Step 4: Use the Student Name Validation option. Otherwise, you can use Join As A Guest. You will not see the option Join As A Guest if the lesson setting is turned on Enable Student Names to Autofill. 

Click a LMS link

Step 1: Check a respective communication medium – SMS, Email, or WhatsApp. 

Step 2: Find and click on the LMS link and join a Nearpod session by allowing the requisite permissions on your device. The LMS could be Schoology, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, or Canvas.

How Nearpod Works 

Nearpod is a highly helpful digital platform for educators. As a teacher, you can use this platform for creating Slideshows, Interactive Videos, and Gamifications & Activities for your students. It helps you make every lesson interactive and fun for your students. You can upload your own videos or choose the ones from more than 22 000 ready-to-teach and customizable teaching materials. With this tool, you can customize lessons with more than 20 formative assessments. The assessments increase student engagements with options like Drag & Drop, Draw It, Open-Ended Questions, and Polls. 

Videos and images in a season make students visualize their understanding about a topic. Through useful insights and dynamic media features, this tool helps you enhance your teaching experience and improve the outcomes of your students. This digital platform facilitates you in your teaching with its three modules – Live Participation, Student-Paced, and Front of Class. It lowers your effort and time consumption for creating lessons for your students.   

How to Use Nearpod as Teachers 

As a teacher, you need to create an account on Nearpod. You can opt for a free account or paid membership as per your choice. Paid membership plan allows you to use all the features of this educational app. Follow the steps mentioned below to get started with Nearpod:

Step 1: Browse on your device. 

Step 2: Choose the right option – Sign up for Free or Subscription. 

Step 3: Type the requisite details (your name and email address) in the form. 

Step 4: Enter your role (teacher) and school name. 

Step 5: Tap on the Done option as you enter all the required details. 

Step 6: Go to the dashboard as your registration is complete. 

Step 7: Choose the right option – Create A Lesson, Share The Lesson with Students.

Create A Lesson 

Choose an option for creating a lesson. The options could be Lesson Creation from Scratch, lesson Import from PowerPoint or Google Slides, or Download from the Premade Teaching Materials. For creating a lesson from the scratch, follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Select My Library from your Nearpod dashboard.

Step 2: Tap on the option, Lesson in Nearpod. 

Step 3: Choose Add Slide to create slides as a screen for lesson creation opens on your device screen. Otherwise, you can select Upload Files or Drag & Drop to use materials from an existing teaching material. 

Step 4: Select the right option – Activity or Content – to add your desired content type. Choose Content for creating a non-interactive lesson and opt for Activity for creating an interactive lesson.  

Step 5: Choose Save to save the lesson you have just created.

Share the Lesson

Step 1: Choose a lesson from your Nearpod dashboard. 

Step 2: Hover on the selected lesson to see options. 

Step 3: Select the right option that could be Live Lesson, Student-Paced Lesson, or Live Lesson with Zoom. 

Step 4: Tap on Live Participation for sharing a Live Lesson. Share the code with your students as it appears on your device screen. You can use Google Classroom, Email or Microsoft Teams to share the lesson with your students. Go to the People Icon to see the Student List. Similarly, follow the on-screen instructions for sharing the lesson through other options.
